Have you linked to ds_noticeboard? Pretty much everyone in the fandom reads it. Just follow the guidlines for posting. :D

As for linking to your stories, the lj FAQ (http://www.livejournal.com/support/faq.bml) is actually fairly useful for easy explanations on how to do basic lj stuff.

primroseburrows is right - most of us use ds_noticeboard. There's nothing wrong with ds_slash - but there's only 200-some people here, versus the 800-some people over at noticeboard...a much wider audience.

Check out spikedluv's Guide To due South On LiveJournal as well as the FAQs that debris_k mentions - they are really helpful.

Learning how to do cut-tags (an essential skill) and adding a header for your story would also be good ideas - most people won't read a story unless they have a general idea of what they're getting into.
