Pairing: Fraser/RayK
Rating: PG-13

Summary: 525 words, using the prompt "summer".
Fraser gaped at the small piece of cloth pinched between Ray’s fingers.
“Pitter patter, Frase.” Ray tossed the swimming suit to him and gestured impatiently.
“Ray, I can’t wear that. It’s indecent.”
Ray leered at him. “I know. All the little grannies will have heart attacks but that’s a chance I’m willing to take.”
“Your parents--”
“Won’t be there.” Ray promised emphatically. It was almost reassuring that he seemed as distressed by the thought.
“—entrusted you with the care of their home while they’re away--”
“What care? We water the plants, enjoy the sunshine. Which we are not doing here.” Ray pointed out the window at the perpetual darkness. “Come on, Fraser, it’s summer all year round in Phoenix and we need a warm vacation.”
“Understood,” Fraser replied. In fact, he had already agreed because he did worry about Ray exhibiting symptoms of seasonal affective disorder. But if he thought Fraser would actually wear something so inappropriate in public it was perhaps too late.
“So try it on!” Ray tried to help by unbuttoning Fraser’s flannel shirt and Fraser had to insist on brushing off his help.
“I--” he crumpled the small suit in his hands, “I need a moment.” Fraser backed into the bathroom and shut the door on Ray’s laughter.

Fraser hesitated for a moment and then decided there was really nothing at risk here, in their own home. Perhaps once Ray saw how ridiculous it was, he’d forget the whole idea. Fraser almost regretted suggesting they use a portion of their time sitting poolside actually teaching Ray how to swim. He was sure this was still some mild retribution for the Bounty incident.
He stripped off his clothes and warily stepped into Ray’s thoughtful (yes, he had cheerfully admitted to putting a great deal of thought into this) if not very generous gift. It was small and tight and he felt ridiculously exposed. He feared he freeze just walking out to the living room, though he knew that wasn’t true. There were societies of men and women who emulated polar bears by wearing the same and baring themselves to the elements.
No, he would simply suffer from embarrassment. He could see his chest was already the color of the fabric as he thought about strangers seeing him in such a display.
Ray knocked on the door. “Come on out, Fraser.” He jiggled the door knob as his last warning and the door swung open.
Fraser took a deep breath and stepped out.
“Wow,” Ray grinned, looking him over. “It’s definitely getting hot in here.”
Fraser glanced at the fire that Ray had stoked up and he had to admit he was warm enough. It was an indulgence they didn’t usually afford themselves because they had plenty of furs and blankets for warmth. “Yes, thank you.”
“No, Frase, I think I got cabin fever and I don’t mean that in a bad way. I may never leave again.”
Fraser saw the color rising in Ray’s cheeks as he quickly undressed and he realized it had nothing to do with the physical fire. “We will eventually need supplies, Ray.”
