ext_9278: Lake McDonald -- Glacier National Park (DS Fraser staggered)

Some of you who are also Sentinel fans, might have seen the episode notes I've been posting over on [livejournal.com profile] ts_talk in which I gush and squee about the show. I'm just getting into due South, and am starting an "episode a week" plan with a group of folks over on my f-list. (The larger plan is to get me obsessed about the show. I've been trying for a while and haven't quite been able to connect on my own, so I'm soliciting squee. :) )

This is one of the best pilots of any series *ever*. Two hours of a good solid mystery, angst, *gorgeous* Fraser, cute and fun Ray. They even manage to pull off one of the essential functions of a pilot episode (introducing the series' supporting characters) without it ever feeling like a roll call.

The best part of the episode is Fraser though. He's magnificent from the beginning to the end. Competent, OMG so fucking beautiful, so badly hurt, and just...*swoon*!!

(Without further ado: Notes on watching the Pilot (with *lots* of screencaps) over at my place)

I hope you do become obsessed with this show. I know I am. There isn't anything that I didn't like from the very beginning, except maybe the fact that the US version of the dvds never offered the pilot and I have 2 sets of season 3 (four for the rest of the world cause the US can't see to get it's act together).

Having said that, see the new Bond movie before you watch the shows that have CKR in them. Oh baby! They could be related. So very yummy!

For me, the first thing that grabbed me with Due South was the music. I mean, they seem to have had it all, but most was folksy/bluesy stuff which I really like alot. Add to that the fact that Paul Gross so obviously was doing most of his owns stunts really hooked me. I don't usually notice that kind of stuff, but I did on this show. Then there's the rather off beat humor.

As far as the dvds go, since I wasn't sure I was going to like the show, I bought pre-viewed (used) from Amazon.com. The quality really sucked and I was not a happy camper when I discovered that they were just plunking me down with episode one with no other explaination other than Frazer was stuck in Chicago for some reason tied up with his father's death. I was even more unhappy after viewing all of season three (last one for US) and still no pilot. But obsessed fan that I am, I had no problem ordering the set that had it included. What whacko puts out a tv series but leaves out the pilot? Sheese.

I don't go to the theater for movies much either. The ones I do go for are the LOTR or Superman kind of thing. You just have to experience that kind of movie with all the sound effects that I don't get at home. Anyway, I didn't even know they were re-doing Casino Royale until my daughter suggested it on Sunday night. Right at the first scene I thought that was CKR up on the screen. But obviously, it wasn't him. But they could be related. Woof! I just might have to see that one again. That guy has got to be the best Bond since Sean Connery. In my opinion anyway. He was ruthless and arrogant and oh so sexy. God I'm a sicko, hee he.
